Hokkaido Regional Head Office
NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo) is due to traffic concentration on the Expressway in Hokkaido during the Golden Week period [Friday, April 27, 2012 to Sunday, May 6, 2012: 10 days] We have summarized congestion prediction and countermeasures.
Prediction of congestion
For this forecast of congestion, application of special holiday discounts (upper limit of 1,000 yen in rural areas) [March 2009-June 2011] and free social experiment [June 2010-June 2011] ] Was estimated based on the traffic conditions during the past Golden Week period and the Bon festival period last year.
● It is predicted that the traffic volume will peak on May 3 (Thurs./holiday). (See Attachment 1 [PDF: 14KB])
● A traffic jam of 2 km is predicted on May 3 (Thursday/holiday) at the Mori IC on the Hokkaido Expressway Terminal.
In addition, with the opening of Doto Expressway October 2011, the traffic congestion that occurred last year and last year at Yubari IC and Shimukappu IC is expected to be resolved.
- Traffic conditions can also change significantly due to accidents and the effects of the weather. Please check the latest road traffic information before departure.
- Please use this congestion forecast to avoid congestion such as shifting your use day or departure time to the day when congestion is expected to occur or before or after the congestion time.
Implementation of measures against congestion
- Regarding congestion countermeasures during the Golden Week period, we will implement the following efforts based on this congestion situation forecast and the traffic congestion situation during the past traffic congestion period. (See Attachment 2 [PDF: 38KB])
・Providing traffic congestion information and warnings for rear-end collisions at the end of traffic congestion
・Placement of parking lot organizers and restrooms at rest facilities
Expressway
- During the Golden Week period, it may still snow and the road surface may freeze. We recommend that you wear winter tires after checking the weather information to your destination in advance.
- Excessive speed will cause an accident. Keep a sufficient distance between vehicles, be careful of speed regulation signs, and drive at a safe speed that is suitable for the road conditions.
Expressway safely and comfortably
- Please note the following points when traveling on the Expressway. (See Attachment 3 [PDF: 55KB])
(1) Flat tires and engine overheating are the most common causes of breakdowns on Expressway. Before departure, check tire pressure, engine oil, cooling water, etc.
(2) There are three gas stations on the Expressway (Sunagawa SA, Waatsu PA, Usuyama SA). Please check the amount of gasoline remaining before departure.
(3) If an accident or breakdown occurs, stop on the shoulder of the road as much as possible, turn on the hazard lamps, and use the flaming cylinder or the triangular display plate to signal the following vehicle. Expressway, drivers and passengers of cars stopped due to an accident or breakdown are hit by cars coming from behind and are dying. Both drivers and passengers should be careful of passing vehicles, evacuate to a safe place such as outside the guardrail, and use an emergency phone or mobile phone near you. # 9910 Please report from.
(4) If any damage is caused by a fallen object, the owner will be responsible for the damage. Please check your shipment before departure.
(5) The left lane of the Expressway is the driving lane and the right lane is the passing lane. When you have finished passing, return to the driving lane and keep the "key left". - 最新の道路交通情報は『ドラとら』、『ハイウェイテレホン』、『(財)日本道路交通情報センター』などでご確認ください。
