1 Power saving efforts

The maximum power consumption of Hokkaido Expressway in winter is more than four times that in summer, and more than 60% of it is occupied by road heating, so in addition to continuing the efforts implemented this summer, From December 1st to March 31st, part of road heating will be stopped while ensuring safety To do.

We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in regard to any inconvenience caused by using some Expressway and SA (service areas)/PA (parking areas) during the period of efforts.

1) New power saving measures to be implemented this winter (new)

As a new initiative, we will work on saving electricity for road heating. For parts that stop part of the road heating, use snow removal work, spraying of antifreezing agent, etc. Perform only within the range where safety can be ensured, We will thoroughly confirm safety by patrol.

  1. Toilet lighting is reduced, and peripheral lighting is reduced except where it is necessary for crime prevention.
  2. Stop the air towel.
  3. Thinning out the lights of the shops (including snack corners), turning off some of the vending machine lights, and setting the air conditioning temperature to 20°C in winter.

2 About dealing with unexpected situations

In the unlikely event of a power outage, the Expressway can be used normally. As much as possible, we will use our own power generation facilities so that our customers can use the Expressway safely.
