4 Construction overview

The Yufutsu River Bridge between Tomakomai West IC and Tomakomai East IC is about 38 years old since the opening of traffic in 1980 (Showa 55). It is necessary to replace the floor slab because the concrete floor slab is deteriorated and the reinforcing bars are rusted due to salt content caused by spraying the antifreezing agent in the winter season.

In order to replace the concrete slab part of the bridge, it is necessary to close the In-bound line (for Muroran), but one of the two lanes for the Out-bound line (for Sapporo) should be closed for the In-bound line (for Muroran). By carrying out transfer and face-to-face traffic, the impact on traffic will be minimized and construction will be carried out.

Main work contents

By replacing the deteriorated existing concrete slab with a new slab, it will be reborn as an Expressway that can be used safely and comfortably.
