NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Atsubetsu-ku, Sapporo) summarizes traffic conditions in Hokkaido during the Golden Week period [Friday, April 28, 2013 to Sunday, May 7, 2023: 10 days]. so I will let you know.

  • The average daily traffic volume was 117% compared to the same period in Reiwa 4.
    (Reduced to 79% compared to 2019 [before the corona crisis])
  • The number of traffic jams of 1 km or more was 14 times, which was +9 times compared to the same period in 2024.
    (It was the same number of times compared to 2019 [before the corona disaster].)
  • The maximum length of traffic congestion occurred at around 14:10 on May 3 (Wednesday) at the E38 Doto Expressway Oiwakecho Interchange (IC) → Mukawahobetsu IC (Out-bound /Obihiro direction) due to the concentration of traffic after the road closure was lifted. It was 26.5km.
