On May 9, the Saitama Prefectural Police announced that they had misused the ETC system and defrauded toll gate officials and arrested fraudulent passers-by, who were not able to pay the tolls that they were supposed to pay.

In this case, the suspect presented an ETC card with no information on the inflowing IC to the staff at the exit toll gate, and made a false statement that the inflowing section was an inflow from an IC different from the actual inflowing IC (near the exit IC). Since we repeatedly performed the act of illegally avoiding the payment of tolls that we should have originally paid, we were arrested on the occasion of a report from the Company to the Saitama Prefectural Police.

Our company has always been working with a strong stance of “don't allow unlawful traffic” so as not to damage the trust of our customers in the toll road business. We believe that this will ensure fairness in the payment of fees and prevent unauthorized traffic.

We will continue to take a resolute attitude against unauthorized traffic and will actively cooperate with police investigations to tackle unauthorized traffic.

In addition, for illegal tolls by the suspect, the toll fee will be confirmed, and a surcharge (twice the amount exempted) will be charged in addition to the illegally tolled toll fee.
