3 Construction overview

Tohoku Expressway Iwafune JCT ~ Tochigi between the IC (Out-bound the line), in traffic congestion period such as Bon and tourist season, In-bound has traffic concentration congestion caused by speed reduction due to the slope. We are constructing an additional lane as part of this traffic congestion countermeasure. Construction started in January 2014 and is expected to take approximately two years by the end of FY27.

1. Installation of additional lanes
   Tohoku Expressway (Out-bound) 62.6KP to 67.6KP (about 5.0km) Iwafune JCT A new lane will be added in front of the merge lane, but if there is no space to widen on the Out-bound side, the In-bound will be placed outside first. After widening, the Out-bound lane will be relocated to set up additional lanes.
2. Construction content
   This work is to remove the existing gate-shaped sign posts (2 units) when the Out-bound line earthwork section is widened.
   In this construction, the existing gate-shaped sign post crosses three lanes, so it is necessary to close at night to ensure the safety of the customer at the time of removal.

In order to minimize the impact on our customers, we will carry out construction work intensively and efficiently by closing roads during the night hours on weekdays when traffic is light.
