The construction to be carried out this time is to replace the deteriorated reinforced concrete floor slab with a new floor slab at the (In-bound line) of Onikumabashi, which is located between Azumino IC and Asagi IC on the Nagano Expressway One-lane traffic control is applied day and night.

(2) Congestion Forecast

During the construction period, we anticipate the occurrence of traffic jams, mainly on weekends and holidays. Especially on the first day of three consecutive holidays (peak hours 17:00 to 18:00), In-bound to 4km of traffic can be expected on the up line and up to 13km on the Out-bound line.

3 Traffic restrictions

In the floor slab replacement work, we will reduce the section of each two lanes of up and down lanes to one lane and implement face-to-face traffic regulation to concentrate on Out-bound lanes. For the first few days at the start and end of the construction period, overtaking lane restrictions will be imposed on the upper and lower lanes in preparation for switching to two-way traffic regulation.

4 Construction overview

Located at Nagano Expressway Azumino IC-Asagi IC, Kunikumabashi is a steel 4-span continuous plate girder bridge (197m long) that crosses over the Kunikuma dam. It has been 23 years since it opened in 1993. ..

During this time, fine cracks caused by an increase in wheel load due to an increase in the size of the vehicle and salt contained by spraying the deicing agent during the winter caused deterioration of the concrete floor slab and rust on the reinforcing steel. It is necessary to carry out general repair work.

To replace the concrete slab part of the bridge, In-bound it is necessary to perform work in the line portion closed to traffic, Out-bound to perform replacement work for two-lane line side as Two way operation of the upper and lower one lane is.

Main work contents

By removing the deteriorated existing concrete slab and installing a new concrete slab, we will improve the running performance and safety.
