NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office (Chuo-ku, Niigata City) Hokuriku Expressway Between Kakizaki Kakizaki Interchange (IC) and Kashiwazaki Kashiwazaki IC, Yoneyama Yoneyama Tunnel (Out-bound Invert installation work (renewal work) will be carried out in accordance with measures against cracking in niigata area.
During the construction period, all-day in-one traffic restrictions operated by one lane on one side, one lane on one side all day, and night traffic will be closed due to the change of lane restrictions.
Since the number of lanes that can be traveled has decreased from two lanes to one lane, congestion is predicted for a part of August near the construction site between Kakizaki IC and Yoneyama IC on the Hokuriku Expressway. If you are traveling in the target section, please try to drive safely further, and please go out with plenty of time. In addition, customers who plan to use the target section at the date and time that is forecasting congestion, please cooperate in reducing congestion, such as changing the IC used and changing the traffic time zone and date and time.

Four. Overview and requests for lane restrictions and nighttime closures

① Outline and request of all-day face-to-face traffic regulation
All-day face-to-face traffic restrictions Image image from June 1st (Wednesday) to October 31st (Monday)
For tunnel invert construction, the sections of 2 lanes on each of the upper and lower lines will be consolidated on the In-bound line side, reduced to 1 lane each, and two-way traffic restrictions will be enforced throughout the day.
Since the lane width is narrow in the two-way traffic restricted section, please observe the regulated speed when driving, secure the inter-vehicle distance, and be careful about rear-end collisions. In addition, special vehicles with a vehicle width of 3.0 m or more cannot pass. In addition, the lanes will change significantly before and after the two-way traffic restricted section, so please follow the local information signs.

(2) Outline of nighttime closure and notification of transfer adjustment
On May 31st and October 31st, the upper and lower lines will be closed at night in order to switch between one-way one-lane all-day regulation and all-day two-way traffic regulation.
Please refer to the attached sheet [PDF: 191KB] for the transfer fare adjustment due to the traffic closure of the nighttime closed section (Kakizaki IC-Kashiwazaki IC).

③ Outline of one-lane one-lane regulation all day
Overtaking lanes or driving lanes will be restricted throughout the day, resulting in one lane on each side.

Requests for lane restrictions and road closures from ① to ③
Construction vehicles may come and go around the construction site, so please be careful when driving ahead.
During the construction period, we will provide construction regulation information using road information boards and road signs and call attention to driving safely. Please check this information before driving and drive safely.

Five. Request when passing special vehicles

Due to this regulation, from June 1st (Wednesday) to October 31st (Monday), special vehicles with a width of 3.0m or more cannot pass between Kakizaki IC and Yoneyama IC (upper and lower lines). Customers using this service are requested to detour to National Highway No. 8.
Also, please note that if you have obtained a special vehicle permit (*) only for Expressway routes, you will also need to obtain a permit for general roads.

  • What is special vehicle passage permission?
Based on the Road Law and the Vehicle Restriction Ordinance, this is a permit required for special vehicles that exceed general restrictions (length, weight, vehicle width, etc.) to pass on public roads.

6. Overview of invert installation work

Overview of invert installation work
Invert construction aims to improve stability by installing an invert to make the tunnel a closed structure and increase the yield strength, prevent deformation such as uplift and subsidence due to board swelling.
