As part of this effort, we are working on the installation of a safety corridor in order to prevent accidents involving contact with toll gate staff at ETC lanes.

The ETC lane will be closed along with this construction.

We will install at 41 toll booths in FY 2008 to avoid crossing into the ETC lane by toll booth personnel and to cross safely. (See attached table [PDF: 14KB])

What is a safety passage?
This is an underground passageway that is installed by excavating the road in order to avoid contact accidents such as toll gate staff when crossing the ETC lane.
When installing, it is necessary to close the ETC lane because it is necessary to open and close the road near the toll gate, backfill after the passage is installed, and restore the pavement and islands.

How to use when all ETC lanes are closed

[Customers of ETC]

(1) When all entrance ETC lanes are closed

  • Please pick up a "passport" at the entrance general lane.
  • In the exit general lane, stop once and hand over the "passport" and "ETC card" to the staff, Please tell us that the entrance ETC lane could not be used.
    (If you do not request, the ETC discount will not be applied. To apply the disability discount, you will need to show your "Disability Certificate".)

(2) When all exit ETC lanes are closed

  • Take the exit general lane.
  • Please give the "ETC card" to the toll gate staff. You can pay with an ETC card.
  • If the ETC lane is closed at the entrance as well, you must get a "passport" at the entrance general lane, stop at the exit general lane, and hand over the "passport" and "ETC card" to the staff. Please tell us that the entrance ETC lane could not be used.
    (If you do not request, the ETC discount will not be applied. To apply the disability discount, you will need to show your "Disability Certificate".)

[Customers who are not ETC]

  • The usage is the same as usual, please use the regular lane.
  • Please collect the ticket at the entrance and pay the fare together with the ticket at the exit.

  • Due to construction work, the ETC lane may be switched from dedicated operation (display of "ETC only") to mixed operation that can be used by ordinary vehicles (display of "ETC/general"). In mixed operation, some customers may stop to get a pass, so please be careful.
  • Vehicles over 2.5m wide may be restricted during the construction period.
  • The ETC time zone discount when the ETC lane is closed is only applicable to "equipped with in-vehicle device" and payment with "ETC card".
