East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.
Tohoku Regional Head Office Fukushima Management Office

NEXCO EAST Fukushima Management Office (Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture) E4 Tohoku Expressway At Omorigawabashi and Matsuzukagawabashi, which are located between Nihonmatsu IC and Fukushima Iizaka IC, replace old reinforced concrete slabs with new slabs. Due to construction work, we will reduce the section of each two lanes of up and down lanes to one lane and implement face-to-face traffic regulation that consolidates on one side from Saturday, October 20 to the whole day.

As the construction will reduce the number of road lanes from two to one, traffic jams are expected to occur on Tohoku Expressway In-bound lanes and up to approximately 12 km (travel time approximately one hour and 10 minutes) on the Out-bound lanes.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but if you drive in this section, we will make further efforts to drive safely, and when you use the vehicle, please be sure to leave enough time to go. Also, For customers who are planning to use the construction section on the day when heavy traffic congestion is predicted, for customers who are planning to use the detour to the Joban Expressway, use of the Expressway via the general road, and interchanges used ( Please change your IC) or use public transportation.

During the construction period, please visit the official website of Tohoku Expressway Renewal Construction (Fukushima)
[http://www.e-nexco.co.jp/renewal/touhokudou/fukushima/] provides real-time traffic information such as traffic congestion times and recommended detours.
Therefore, please check this information when using Expressway.

Expressway This is necessary work to keep the network function sound for a long time. We will work to minimize inconvenience to our customers, so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Four. Construction content

About 40 years have passed since the opening of the Omorigawa Bridge and Matsuzukagawa Bridge between the Tohoku Expressway Nihonmatsu IC and Fukushima Iizaka IC (upper and lower lines). Since the salt content of the anti-freezing agent sprayed on causes the deterioration of concrete floor slabs and rust on the reinforcing bars, it is necessary to implement drastic measures against deterioration.

By replacing the deteriorated existing concrete slab with a new slab, it will be reborn as an Expressway that can be used safely and comfortably.

Five. Request when using

  • [1] Face-to-face traffic will be restricted throughout the construction section for approximately 4.1 km. We are reducing the current two lanes from one lane to one lane, and we are forecasting long traffic congestion (up to about 20km on the In-bound line, up to about 12km on the Out-bound line), starting from the construction site. Please go out with a margin. Also, For customers who are planning to use the construction section on the day when heavy traffic congestion is predicted, for customers using the detour to Joban Expressway or the use of Expressway via general road , Please change the IC used or use public transportation.
  • [2] Since the driving lane and shoulder are narrow in the face-to-face traffic restricted section, observe the regulated speed when traveling, secure the distance between the vehicles, and pay sufficient attention to rear-end collisions. In addition, the lane changes greatly before and after the face-to-face traffic restricted section, so please follow the local information signs and so on.
  • [3] There are vehicles coming and going around the construction site, so please be careful and pass ahead.
  • [4] During the construction period, we will provide traffic congestion information and detour guidance using simple information boards, construction regulation information using road information boards and road signs, and call attention to drive safely. We will carry it out. Please check this information before riding and drive safely.
