 E7E46 Akita Expressway On September 28 Reiwa 4, Akita Expressway celebrated the 20th anniversary of the opening of the entire Kitakami Junction (JCT) ~ Noshiro Minami Interchange (IC) line managed by our company. Since the opening of the first section in July 2013, a total of 64 million customers have used it.

  • The economic ripple effect on Iwate and Akita prefectures along the line and their neighboring prefectures is about 740 billion yen.
    It is estimated that the development of the Akita Expressway has improved productivity by shortening travel time, and that it has had a major economic effect on the areas along the route and neighboring prefectures since the opening of the first section.
  • Encouraging businesses to locate along railway lines
    Due to the efficiency of transportation utilizing the Akita Expressway, the location of companies along the route has progressed. Attracting and operating companies are progressing, contributing to the development of the region.
  • Contributing to more efficient transportation of agricultural products from Akita Prefecture
    Development of large-scale gardening bases (mega housing complexes) is progressing along the Akita Expressway, making it possible to efficiently transport green onions and raw shiitake mushrooms by using the Akita Expressway. In addition, the Akita Expressway is used to transport fresh Akita raspberries, which have a short expiration date, to the Tokyo metropolitan area.
  • Promote the location of shops that support daily life
    In Akita Prefecture, the number of convenience stores has increased since the opening of the Akita Expressway. Thanks to the Akita Expressway, products can be delivered from factories along the Tohoku Expressway Expressway, contributing to the opening of shops that support daily life.
  • Supporting emergency medical activities
    Accessibility to tertiary emergency medical institutions has improved due to the development of the Akita Expressway. A dedicated ambulance exit path was established in the Taiheiyama Parking Area, improving emergency medical services in areas along the line.
  • Functions as a transportation route for goods in the event of a disaster
    After the Great East Japan Earthquake, ports such as Akita Port and Noshiro Port on the Sea of Japan side functioned as substitutes for ports on the Pacific Ocean side that were damaged. The Akita Expressway was used as a transportation route to cities on the Pacific side. It also served as an alternate route when parallel roads were closed.
