NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Miyagino-ku, Sendai City) will operate during the Golden Week period [10 days from April 28, 2020 (Friday) to May 7, 2020 (Sunday)] in the Tohoku region managed by our company. We have summarized the usage status of Expressway, so we will inform you.

Traffic volume

  • The average daily traffic volume in the Tohoku region was 21,900 vehicles / day, which was about 115% compared to the same period in 2024. (It was about 75% compared to the same period in 2019)
  • Traffic peaked on May 3rd (Wednesday) for Out-bound line and May 5th (Friday) for the In-bound line.

Congestion

  • The number of traffic jams over 5 km was 3 times Out-bound direction (+2 times compared to the previous year) and 3 times for In-bound direction (+3 times compared to the previous year), 6 times (+5 times compared to the previous year).
  • The maximum traffic jam length was 16.0km, which occurred around 7:50 on May 3 (Wednesday) near Fukushima TN on the E4 Tohoku Tohoku Expressway (Out-bound line). This traffic jam was caused by traffic congestion.
